Our September meeting, held on the 1st, kicked off with SPEED networking. This fun and useful exercise enabled attendees to meet new members as well as get caught up with each other. 25 members participated.
The meeting held on August 4, 2010, was the first meeting to take place in August and there were 25 members present. Historically, the BMBA has taken a break from meeting during July and August. A round table discussion by members took place and included what members would like to gain from their BMBA membership and how BMBA can better assist local business growth. Discussion also included planning and ideas for the November Business Expo. A written form was distributed to solicit ideas for both. For more information, contact a BMBA board member.
The meeting held on July 7, 2010, was the first meeting to take place in July. Historically, the BMBA has taken a break from meeting during July and August. It was good to see more than 20 people attend this first-ever July meeting. Steve Kutter explain the rolling out of the BMBA Charitable Foundation. This 502 C(3) organization, which is designed to make a positive impact on our community, will showcase and support three local charities and one national charity. Donations will be made quarterly. To kick off the the first quarter and recipient of the BMBA Charitable Foundation, the speaker was ERIN CURTIS, of Erin's Dream.
Erin’s Dream is an organization dedicated to support families that have lost a child. Founded by Erin and Jeff Curtis, who lost two children to infant leukemia, the organization provides support and advice, both physically and emotionally, to families after the loss of one or more of its members. Their mission includes renovating their family home along the Perkiomen trail which will be used as a respite and gathering place for families experiencing the tragic loss of a child. The BMBA is providing donation boxes for storefronts, and proceeds will go entirely to Erin’s Dream. If you are interested in sponsoring an Erin’s Dream Cash Box at your place of business, or can support otherwise - cash, materials, or man hours, contact a BMBA board member for more information. You can also read more about Erin’s Dream at www.erinsdream.org.
Our Speaker on Wednesday, June 2nd was Clyde Stolzfus. Clyde spoke regarding the opportunity to do business with the Federal Government. He sited examples of companies that have been successful, but cautioned on the lengthy amount of time necessary to complete the process. Clyde was able to answer many questions from attendees at the end of the meeting.
Our speaker on Wednesday, May 5th was Matthew Goerke.
Matthew is regarded as one of America’s leading experts in the field of Memory Development. He has shared with thousands of business professionals from all walks of life the techniques for developing an instant recall memory with results that can only be described as amazing.
Matthew amazed a packed house with a memory exercise in which everyone participated. He made his 'Memory Switch Program' available to BMBA members at a reduced rate. We hope to have Matthew return to provide a follow-on presentation in memory development.
